Situated within the historic farm landscape in Sagaponack, New York, this 1,000-square- foot structure provides seasonal housing for farm workers associated with the equestrian functions of the farm. The building is conceived as an L-shaped, extruded gable, organizing the program into two dormitory-like wings that may function independently or as a unified whole through the use of a pocket door. Sleeping lofts are inserted within the attic volume, with skylights strategically positioned to maximize headroom while remaining compliant with Sagaponack’s pyramid law. Recessed porches carved into the gable ends mediate between interior and landscape, offering shaded outdoor rooms that engage the surrounding farmland and provide relief from direct sun. This project was done in collaboration with Brad Hooks design office, renderings by CREO.
