Conceived as a speculative project for a builder, this residence in the Town of Southampton is designed to maximize floor area and bedroom count in support of the developer’s programmatic and financial objectives. Working with a sloping site, the entry is set lower to reduce the building’s rear elevation, minimizing a looming presence over the backyard and pool area. The multi-story structure accommodates five bedrooms above grade and two additional bedrooms in the basement, unified both visually and functionally by a vertical millwork element that integrates circulation with built-in storage. A double- height foyer frames this millwork and anchors the pool-facing open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas. Generous expanses of glazing establish a visual connection to the covered deck and pool, extending the interior spaces towards the landscape. This project was done in collaboration with Brad Hooks design office, renderings by CREO.
